Our dear friend Tony Humrich suffered a stroke on Wednesday, November 18th, 2020. He remains in the ICU at John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix. It was a typical evening as wife Sarah was pondering what to make for dinner when Tony told her they needed to go to the ER right away. He was experiencing numbness and tingling down one side of his body and up into his head. Sarah quickly drove him to the hospital where he was immediately admitted to the ICU. Tony is making progress but will soon be transferred to Honor Health Neuro Rehabilitation Center.
Unfortunately, Tony has a long road to recovery. He has lost fine motor movement in his right hand, arm and leg. He cannot walk unassisted and struggles with loss of balance. Tony’s speech was also affected as he struggles to speak without slurring.
Tony and Sarah have two boys, Isaac and Josh. Isaac is a Senior at Sunnyslope High School and Josh is in 8th grade at Madison Meadows Middle School. Tony is extremely involved in the boys activities. He has been a Boy Scout leader and mentor to Troop 329. Tony is an avid mountain biker and enjoys long rides as the Arizona sun begins to set. He and the boys love to camp, hike and kayak.
Tony is a supervisor for Scholastic Book Fairs and is the primary bread winner. Sarah teaches part time at Rio Salado College. Obviously Tony will be sidelined from his job for the foreseeable future. They face a loss of income and substantial therapy and rehabilitation costs.
This is a family that is no stranger to medical conflict. Sarah is a breast cancer survivor who bravely battled the disease enduring chemo therapy during her pregnancy with Josh! Tony is facing weeks of rehab at Honor Health and due to COVID he will not be permitted any visitors. With the Thanksgiving holiday quickly approaching this is an extremely critical time. Please help this wonderful family overcome another obstacle by contributing whatever you can.
