Tony doesn't have a leg to stand on
Donation protected
Stubborn. Pig-headed. A pain in the a**. Most of you know Tony Giachetti. If you don’t, he’ll be happy to introduce himself. He’ll talk for hours if you don’t shut him up. Tony’s stubbornness is part of his predicament.
Tony had necrotizing fasciitis in his right leg in late 2019 (Google it if you must but maybe avoid the pictures if you’re squeamish). They managed to save his leg, but he lost a lot of nerves and muscle and could only walk with a brace. Eventually, the leg got infected again and became gangrenous and he lost his foot above the ankle. Experiments with prosthetics for this amputation did not go well and he became an above-knee amputee last year.
Tony’s been in EMS since ambulances were pulled by dinosaurs. He started at Eastern Ambulance (now AMR) in 1988 and we’ve been stuck with him ever since. Tony’s loves in life are his kids, his job, and golf (in that order). Tony remains very active and still comes in to work most days because he’s super stubborn and because he says retirement would kill him, and he’s probably right. In order to get to work though he needs his prosthetic leg and they’re pretty darn expensive. They have parts that need to be replaced regularly. Insurance will only cover so much and will only cover replacement parts every so often.
So here we are, asking for some help for Tony because he’s on his last leg. His medical costs have been eating away at his savings for the past 3 years and he needs some help. Thanks for reading and if you can’t donate, please send the man some meatballs or share this GoFundme with others.
