The Macedon Football Netball Club (MFNC) community is always striving to improve the standard of our facilities. Recently, in conjunction with the Macedon Junior Football Netball Club and the Macedon Tennis Club, we have received a grant from the State Government and Macedon Ranges Shire Council to upgrade the lighting of the Tony Clarke precinct. The three clubs also had to raise funds to complete the project. Fortunately, the Gisborne and District Community Branch of the Bendigo Bank also provided a grant to help the three clubs. However, the senior club is still required to raise almost $12,000 as our contribution to the project.
The current lighting at Tony Clarke is in desperate need of improvement as our netballers are forced to train at alternative venues and our footballers are training often on an only partially illuminated oval.
The new lighting that the project will provide will not only benefit the club but the Macedon community as a whole. The improved lighting be up to AFL standard and will allow us to host night games of football and netball, as well as giving the Macedon community more opportunities host events. The Carols by Candlelight hosted at Tony Clarke each year will be improved, the local primary schools that use the oval for sporting activities will be able to increase their options for activities beyond the day time to include night time activities, and the improved lighting will also increase the options and usage of the ground as an evacuation point in the event of any community emergencies.
We are now reaching out to the wider MFNC family to please help us meet our goal.
