On Saturday April 29, 2017 Tony became violently ill and unresponsive. He was rushed to Woodland via ambulance where a CT scan showed he was bleeding in his brain. As his heart rate began to crash he was put into a coma and rapidly sent to a neuro ICU in Sacramento to begin treatment for the subarachnoid hemorrhage. The accumulation of blood in his brain made it so his cerebrospinal fluid could not properly drain into his spinal cord and was creating life threatening pressure inside his brain. A ventriculostomy tube was placed to drain the blood and CSF. Another CT showed that Tony has a mass inside of his brain, and the probably cause for the hemorrhage. They haven't determined if the tumor is cancerous or not. Tony was in a coma and on full life support for 2 and a half days. He has since come out of the coma and taken off of life support and has been making incredibly strides in his recovery. However we are not out of the woods just yet. Because his brain is still very inflamed we are taking a gentle approach to his treatment and allowing his brain to cool down while it drains before the doctors decide on their next step. He is expected to be in the ICU for at least a couple more weeks, and rehabilitation after that can take more than a year. But because we do not know the full extent of damage caused by the hemorrhage, we do not know how long his recovery will take and whether or not he will have any long term effects. I have created this fundraiser to help with his medical expenses; the average cost for an ICU is $10,000 PER DAY. He has already been here five days and we don't know exactly how much longer he will be here. Plus the cost of 2 ambulance rides. Tony will be out of work indefinitely, and he is the bread winner of our household with our two daughters ages 5 and 1 and a half. Any size donation helps, even $1 is $1 we didn't have before.
