Our sweet baby boy, Tonka, recently went through life-saving surgery. We came home to him unresponsive on the floor with pale gums. Quickly, we rushed him to the emergency room. The doctor said he needed immediate surgery because a tumor had ruptured on his spleen. Either we put him down or do the surgery.

Tonka is not just our best friend, but also our baby. We love him so much and couldn't tell him bye with such short notice. With the surgery, Tonka is back to his old self with a HIGH quality of life. We took the time to discuss with the doctors to make sure we were not making a selfish decision by doing the surgery. He is not only alive, but still playing with tennis balls and running around like the lil Thanksgiving ham he is.

While the surgery was worth it, it was costly. It also happened on a Sunday at 2:00am, so the after-hour emergency vet cost was hefty along with his weeklong stay at the vet. In total, the bill came out to around $4,000 (we put $5,000 as our goal in hopes of donating all extra money to helping pups!). We are on a payment plan with the hospital, but the large payments are quickly approaching.
