Closing the Distance: Toni's Kitchen Fundraiser

Hi! Our names are Lucy Solomon and Sarah Shiffman. We’re Juniors at Montclair High School, and over the past few weeks, we’ve watched our lives flip upside down. In our opinion, during times like this, one of the best ways to to help is through art. So many people are struggling right now, and one way to alleviate the stress and isolation confronting the world is through performance. While people all over the world are struggling to obtain the supplies they need, it’s also happening right here in our town. We’re organizing a series of online performances by local (mostly student) artists to raise money for Toni’s Kitchen, who’ve spent their annual budget in just two weeks on COVID-19 relief for families in need in our community. We want to help them help as many people as possible. As this gets worse, people are running out of food and supplies and Toni’s Kitchen is helping these people get the things they need directly. A lot of us are fortunate enough not to have to worry too much about where we’re getting our next meal, or if we have enough toilet paper. So, if we could just take a little bit of money out of what we have, and give it to them, it would make all the difference. If you’re a student, we understand not wanting to spend precious money, but what are we going to spend money on right now? We’re stuck at home. And if you’re not a student, well, you’re also stuck at home! Even if it’s only a dollar, it WILL make a difference. But if it’s $100, that’s even better!
