Toni Bagnaro Allison - A Vibrant Life Interrupted
For those of you who know Toni Allison, you know her as the person everyone turns to—the caregiver, the volunteer, the friend who shows up no matter what. For ten years, Toni selflessly cared for her handicapped brother while working full-time and volunteering at nursing homes. She spent every weekend with her grandson, filling his life with love and laughter. Toni has always been the rock that others lean on.
But since June 15, 2024, Toni's world has been turned upside down by a devastating and mysterious illness that has left doctors in Oklahoma baffled.
When Everything Changed
It started with a single moment—catching her grandson as he nearly fell. In that instant, Toni felt what she describes as "the top of my head exploding." From that day forward, she has lived with:
• Constant, excruciating headaches rated 8-9 out of 10 on the pain scale, every single day
• Severe dizziness causing dangerous imbalance
• Nausea and vomiting leading to significant weight loss
• Vision problems including blurriness, double vision, and flashes of light
• Cognitive decline affecting her ability to find words and communicate
Imagine living every single day with a headache so severe you can barely function. Imagine not being able to work, care for your loved ones, or even leave a dark, quiet room. This has been Toni's reality for over a year.
A Medical Mystery
Toni has seen countless specialists: neurosurgeons, neurologists, pain management doctors, ENT specialists, vestibular specialists, dentists, and ophthalmologists. She's undergone numerous MRIs, CT scans, and brain scans. Despite all these efforts, doctors in Oklahoma have been unable to pinpoint the exact location of what they believe is a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak—a rare and complex condition.
Between November 2024 and January 2025, Toni's condition became so severe that her doctors feared she might not survive. She spent months confined to a dark room, unable to tolerate light or sound, watching her life slip away.
Two "blind" epidural blood patches provided temporary relief, giving us hope. For brief periods, Toni returned to work and felt like herself again. But each time, the symptoms returned with devastating force. Her doctor has advised against further blood patches due to the risk of creating additional complications.
Hope on the Horizon
Toni's neurologist, Dr. Salins, has identified a specialist who may be able to help: Dr. Wouter Schievink at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Dr. Schievink is one of the world's leading experts in complex CSF leaks and has access to advanced diagnostic equipment and treatment options that simply aren't available in Oklahoma.
Dr. Salins believes that Toni has a low-pressure CSF leak—so subtle that it doesn't show up on standard imaging but severe enough to be destroying her quality of life. Dr. Schievink has the specialized tools and expertise to find these hidden leaks and provide the treatment Toni desperately needs.
This is Toni's best chance—possibly her only chance—to reclaim her life.
How You Can Help
Toni's appointment with Dr. Schievink is scheduled for January 2026. The trip will require:
• Round-trip airfare from Oklahoma City to Los Angeles
• Hotel accommodations for the duration of treatment
• Specialized diagnostic tests and scans not available in Oklahoma
• Treatment procedures to repair the CSF leak
• Follow-up care and medications
Our goal is to raise $50,000 to cover these essential medical expenses. Here's how your donation will make a difference:
• $25 helps cover meals during her stay in California
• $100 contributes toward hotel accommodations
• $500 helps pay for specialized diagnostic imaging
• $1,000 covers a significant portion of treatment procedures
• $5,000+ makes a transformative impact on her entire medical journey
Every single dollar counts. Much of the treatment must be paid for in advance, so we need to raise these funds before January.
The Woman We're Fighting For
Before this illness, Toni was unstoppable. She spent her entire life giving to others. Now, she needs everyone to help her get her life back.
Since going on disability in October 2024, Toni can barely manage a few hours of activity before becoming severely ill. She's lost her independence, her career, and precious time with her grandson. The cognitive decline has been particularly frightening—struggling to find words, difficulty comprehending conversations, and signs of aphasia.
A Message of Gratitude
We are Toni's family and friends, and we're organizing this campaign because Toni would never ask for help herself—she's always been the one helping others. We've watched her suffer for too long, and we refuse to stand by while she fights this battle alone.
Whether you can donate $10 or $10,000, your contribution brings Toni one step closer to the treatment she needs. If you're unable to donate, please share this campaign with your network. Every share increases the chance that Toni's story will reach someone who can help.
Thank you for taking the time to read Toni's story. Thank you for caring. Thank you for being part of the community that will help bring Toni back to us.
With deepest gratitude,
Toni's Family and Friends
P.S. Time is critical. Toni's January appointment is approaching quickly, and we need to secure funds for advance payments. Please donate today and share this campaign with everyone you know. Together, we can give Toni the chance she deserves to heal and return to the life she loves.
