Tonga Disaster Relief - Support affected families

I am raising money to help families in Tonga, significantly affected by the recent Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai volcanic eruption. The eruption triggered a tsunami and sent shockwaves around the world. The small island nation has been substantially affected, with many homes and villages destroyed. Tragically, four lives were lost during the natural disaster.

 

My mother and sister live in Tonga, so this is very close to me. My family lost contact for many days as power and communication lines were affected; we did not know if my mum and sister were alive. Days later, we contacted a family friend who had access to a satellite phone; they confirmed that my mum and sister were safe. Sadly, many Tongan families were not so fortunate, losing everything and now must rebuild.

 

The money raised will be used to purchase container space, enabling food and supplies to be shipped to those families in desperate need, to make this happen I will be working with Team Tonga Shipping services in Sydney. Tonga relies heavily on imported products, so the supply chain plays a significant role in reaching our people and supporting the recovery.
