On Saturday 25th July 2026, I will be taking on the challenge of hiking the Yorkshire Three Peaks in memory of my sister, Laura, who passed away in September last year at just 35 years old.
All of the money donated for this challenge will be given to The Royal Theatrical Fund, a charity who do fantastic work providing support to those who work in the theatre industry that are unable to work due to illness, injury or those who are in their twilight years.
I feel this is a very worth cause as well as a very fitting one, especially with the line of work Laura was in with her costume company. I will link the charity website below, it contains a lot more information about the work they do…
This challenge is deeply personal to me — a way of honouring her life, carrying her memory with me every step of the journey, and turning grief into something purposeful. As I take on the miles and the climbs, I’ll be reflecting on her strength, her spirit, and the love that will always remain. Anyone reading this that knew Laura knows what a special person she was, always doing her upmost to help everyone she could and bought so much light into all of our lives. I was and still am so proud to call her my sister.
She was definitely one to keep herself busy all of the time, she had so many hobbies, but she was happiest when she was singing and performing with one of the many local theatre groups she was apart of. When the news of her passing was shared with everyone we were blown away with the sheer amount of love and support we received from everyone who knew her, even if they didn’t know us. Even our local theatre the Wolverhampton Grand and the BBC both wrote touching tributes about her, I have linked both of these below…
The Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge covers approximately 24 miles (39 kilometres) and involves over 1,500 metres of ascent, all to be completed within 12 hours. The route takes in three iconic mountains of the Yorkshire Dales: Pen-y-ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres), and Ingleborough (723 metres). It’s a tough physical and mental test, but one I’m committed to seeing through — not just for the challenge itself, but for Laura, whose memory will be my motivation from start to finish.
Taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks is not just a personal challenge, but an opportunity to give something meaningful back — turning effort and determination into positive impact. Every donation, no matter the size, will help these charities make a real difference, and I’m grateful to everyone who chooses to support this cause and be part of something truly worthwhile.
I will posting updates on this page every week to keep everyone up to date with how my training is going. I will also link my Strava profile below if anyone wants a more detailed look at what I am getting up to.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my challenge, any sized donation that you can give would truly mean the world to me!
