Hello friends and family! I started this fundraiser for my brother and his fiancée to help with medical bills. Please see their story below:
On August 29, 2022, Thomas “Tom” Strasbaugh suffered a major stroke when he should have been filing for his marriage license. It turns out, he had a virus that infected a heart valve resulting in the stroke and the following Friday, he had open heart surgery to replace the infected heart valve at Allegheny General Hospital. He was in the ICU at AGH recovering for a few weeks before being transferred to West Penn for rehab and is making strides with his recovery every day. He has the best team of doctors and nurses we could ask for. Unfortunately, his recovery is expected to be slow and we’ve had to make the difficult decision to postpone the October 22nd, 2022 wedding of Tom to his fiancée Felicia. Postponing a wedding under normal circumstances is hard but Tom and Fe have been waiting over two years for this day and their hearts are broken that they have had to put it on hold for now. Most vendors have been understanding but there have been significant losses financially and we want to do what we can to help them. While Tom’s recovery is expected to be slow, we are hopeful that he will be able to be home soon to continue his recovery and therapies. The unknown amount of medical bills coming their way has lead us to start this GoFundMe in hopes that we can lessen the financial strain they have been put under. Thank you for your prayers and support, Tom is blown away every day by the amount of people rooting for him and wishing him well. We know he will be walking down the isle and dancing with his beautiful bride in no time!
