Tom Walsh Lost Finger Fund

Donation protected
On Tues, Feb 22, my left hand was horribly mauled on a table saw when a splinter caught my work glove, pulling it directly onto the spinning blade which gauged an enormous divot out of the index finger leaving the fingertip dangling by a tendon.

At Toronto Western Emerg, I learned that the blade had so badly mangled my finger that the part above the knuckle could not be saved, requiring amputation. The surgeons say the reconstructed stump won’t heal for 3-4 weeks and I can’t consider working during this time to allow the wound to seal and heal. Then, I will need physiotherapy.

Thankfully, it was my left hand so, with perseverance, I will learn, as a builder and musician, to adjust to my new reality.

But as a self-employed tradesman, I live from month to month, with no Workman's Compensation leaving me scrambling to make March rent and then the next month and the time it will take to recover and return to work. This is why I am asking you to help by contributing any amount towards to help cover my basic needs for the next 6-8 weeks.

Of course, many of us are struggling financially, so even if you aren’t able to contribute, just reposting or sharing this can help!

With my thanks,

Tom
