If you have been following our story, you already know that my husband is a walking miracle. For the past three years, he has been courageously battling heart failure. We have traveled thousands of miles, spent weeks and weeks in hospitals, exhausted almost all of our resources, and been told numerous times that he wouldn't survive much longer. He has faced each battle with courage and a strength that has baffled even the top heart specialists in the country.
We are now facing the ultimate battle and, as much as we wanted to avoid it, need to ask for help. Tests and blood work have severely gone downhill since March and his heart and kidneys are failing at an alarming rate. He spent a week at Vanderbilt where they determined he is too weak to receive a transplant. The only hope of a life saving procedure is for him to receive an LVAD (Left Ventricle Assistive Device) which is basically an electric motor attached to the heart. This surgery is just as complicated as transplant surgery and the recovery is just as lengthy. He will have an extended hospital stay and then will have to live in Nashville for a period after the surgery with 24 hour care to ensure he is close to the hospital in the event of an emergency.
We believe in the power of prayer and we know he would not be here now if not for the prayers and love of our circle. We ask that you continue to pray for our family as we navigate the days and months ahead.
We appreciate each and every person who has reached out and helped in any way. Please share this post for us. We love you.
