Unfortunately, Tom has lost his battle with ALS.  Please help support Leslie and the kids.  Much love, Carolina

Leslie and I met in 2004 as we were both expecting daughters.  We have so much in common that it's uncanny.  Here is the story of Leslie and Tom:

"Tom & I met in 1997. We were inseparable. He took me to my senior prom. We were married in October 2001. Brenna was born May 2005 (6th grade). Andrew July 2007 (4th grade). Tom loves gaming, reading & going fishing with his family. Tom has a very good work ethic. He started in 1999 as a collector & is now an analytics consultant with his company. While working, he also went to school & obtained 2 degrees. He has kept working full time from home but now is in the process of going on disability. I stay home to care for Tom.

We live in Cornelius, Oregon. Tom has always been very healthy. Tom started showing symptoms of ALS in early 2015. He was losing weight & he felt a thickening of his throat. He has seen a multitude of specialists & underwent many many tests before he had an abnormal EMG in July 2016. That led us to see an ALS specialist who would be able to rule out other causes for an abnormal EMG. In October 2016 Tom was diagnosed with bulbar onset ALS. By that time Tom was having many other symptoms, such as difficulty swallowing, falling & his weakening chest muscles made breathing a chore. Now Tom uses an AVAPS to help him breathe. He is very unsteady on his feet, he has severe fatigue & will be getting a motorized wheelchair in the near future. He is also getting a feeding tube as he has nearly lost his ability to swallow. His ability to speak, cough & control saliva is also severely impaired.

Every day we have is a gift, but also a struggle. Tom's goal is to be around long enough to see his children graduate college. The average life expectancy for someone with ALS is 2-5 years."

I want to see Tom reach his goal.  Please help this family as the medical expenses continue to mount.  Tom had surgery yesterday to get a PEG tube, so that he can get adequate nutrition.  Any amount is appreciated and THANK YOU!
