Our friend, Tom Rushworth, is a dedicated baseball and soccer coach that is always encouraging the youth of our community. He is a big guy with an even bigger heart, who is always willing to step up and help people in need whether it is family, friends, or complete strangers.

Knowing who he is, it comes as no surprise that he stepped in to help a woman who was being physically mistreated by another man early Saturday morning, June 18th. The man involved responded by shooting Tom in the head, leaving him with critical and potentially life altering injuries and neurological issues.

Tom was rushed to the hospital where he underwent surgery and remains in a medically induced coma. The extent of his injuries and his prognosis for recovery won't be clear until he is taken off of sedation and further evaluated. There is no doubt, however, that Tom will be stuck with a huge financial burden when all is said and done.
