Tommy's Journey: Aid for Homeless with Pets

Hello Everyone,

My name is Tommy Skaggs. I’ve lived in Frederick since 1998. I arrived at a local non-profit seeking help with a 15-year-old addiction and homelessness. I’m happy to say, God has restored me to my family.

I’ve worked with the homeless and addicted for over two decades.

During this time, I’ve worked with both homeless intact and single families who wanted help to get out of homelessness but would not enter programs because they did not want to give up a pet (family member) in order to enter a life-changing program. For years, this has been a barrier for those with housing needs. I’m committed to breaking barriers to service by being innovative and creative, thinking outside the box.

This is why I am dedicated to bringing The Street Dog Coalition -Frederick to our community. ‘Serving both ends of the leash!”

Please help me with this incredible opportunity to fill this gap in services. Many people will feed their pets before themselves.
