Tommy Walsh is a regular guy. He lives his life everyday as a devoted husband, father and friend. In his spare time, Tommy was one of the finest college football officials in the country and has worked both high school and college games. As a member of the Big East Conference, Tommy has had the honor of working the Capital One, Chick-Fila
-A, New Orleans and Gator Bowls. He and his wife Dee Dee have adopted their two children Michael and Jinhee and their lives were like those as any other family you know. At least until February of 2012.
At that time, Tommy was diagnosed with ALS or better know as Lou Gehrig’s disease. This is a debilitating disease characterized by rapidly progressive degeneration of an individuals motor skills. Affected individuals ultimately lose the ability to control all voluntary movement. Over the past 7-1/2 years, Tommy has lost all motor skill function and must have round the clock nursing or critical care support.
Even though Tommy has lost most of his motor skills, his mental capacity is as sharp and strong as it was before his diagnosis. He is a fighter and he will tell you that at every opportunity. Today he still plans on beating this dreaded disease.
As you can imagine, losing his income, needing acute care that is required round the clock and trying to raise two college age young adults, Dee Dee and Tommy have taken a major financial hit. They have run through their life savings and they are trying to hold on to the home they have built over the years.
We are setting up this page to provide support for Dee Dee, Tommy and their family. It is our attempt to allow Tommy to stay in his home and not lose the only constant he and the family have in their lives. He is a battler and a wonderful man. Help us keep him in his home and offset astronomical medical cost.
