Tommy's Medical and Living Expenses
Donation protected
Hi everyone, this is Denise, Tommy Isom's wife. Tommy and I have been married over 39 years and always lived in Lamar County Texas.. Tommy has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Cirrhosis with no chance of transplant. His Cirrhosis is from fatty liver and lipitor. He has had five blood infections and three knee replacements since September12, 2019. He currently has a antibotic spacer in his left knee and needs it replaced soon. We are looking for a knee surgeon to take the case as the surgeon that handled the last three was good, but his surgical team failed a important process in the second surgery, which inevitably has led to the third and now the fourth surgery. We are told this will cost $1500 to $2000 up front, plus an additional 30 days in rehab. We currently owe over $14000.00 in medical bills. We filed for Medicaid in January but have not got an answer as of yet. In the meantime Tommy's right knee also needs replacement. The first surgery has thrown Tommy's body into a wild mess do to his Cirrhosis.
We have sold our house plus all of our other valuables to help pay some bills and downsize, but all the complications have dwindled our equality and cash. We've moved twice and currently living in a duplex, trying to minimize our expenses but do to our current medical conditions, between the two of us, plus the car payment and living expenses are budget is over $500.00 in the red every month. Plus the cost of supplies and food are going up every time we go to the store.
Tommy also needs a scooter because his wheelchair weights over 85 lbs. And is becoming more of a burden for Denise to lift in and out of her car. Her Rheumatory Arthritis and Degeneration Disk Disease. A mobility scooter and loader will help save her joints. Medications between the two of us is over $450 a month. I am currently not able to afford my blood thinner medicine and have had to borrow from my doctors. This company will not help with cost to medicare patients.
Asking friends and family to helps us financially is the last thing we wanted to do but circumstances have led us to try and get us out of this mess. Tommy is requiring consent care until we get his knees straightened out. Funds will be used for food, medicine, housing and medical bills. Our actual wish is to be able to afford submittal health insurance so we don't land in this position in the future.
I will need to have quick access to the funds and will be pulling them through NE Texas Teachers Credit Union so I can pay bills and medical expenses through our normal checking account. This will be done every two days after the funds have been put into the GoFundMe account. GoFundMe does charge a small percentage but they also supply tax information for our taxes at the end of the year. Something we will definitely need.
Thank you in advance for your help and prayers. May God bless you and yours.
Sincerely
Denise and Tommy Isom
