Of course, my dad would not approve as he’s an independent & private person. But, Mindy and I are starting this in hopes to ease the financial burden and make this journey possible & less stressful on him.
Anyone who knows our dad, Tommy Flocke, knows he’s the most trustworthy, hardworking man there is. About 6 months ago he started heavily going to doctors to figure out what was going on as symptoms developed & rapidly worsened. After being under the care of multiple doctors including 2 Neurologist and a neurosurgeon, MANY appointments, multiple MRI’s amongst many other testing, we STILL do not have an answer. The neurosurgeon yesterday suggests it’s his Central Nervous System and recommends us to see a neurologist in Lake Charles. The soonest appointment for this neurologist is over a month out. We cannot wait that long for an initial appointment much less longer for this doctors testing and follow up appointments in hopes for answers. This has been our process thus far and it has not been successful. We have exhausted all resources and cannot continue to watch him suffer, he needs help NOW! His symptoms continue to aggressively worsen. He has minimal function of his limbs resulting in frequent falls, weight loss and the inability to perform daily living functions. We need these answers to help him and get him well.
We are in the process of setting up a stay at the Mayo Clinic. However, being out of state, insurance will be billed out-of-network. His out-of-network deductible is $5000, then covered at 60/40 until the maximum out-of-pocket is met which is $15,800 which then he’d be covered at 100%. All monies collected will go into an account to assist with medical costs and travel. Each visit including the initial to The Mayo Clinic is typically a 5 day stay. He continues to show up to work everyday through all of this as he’s loyal to his business and customers. Being self employed, he has no other means of income and it’ll be hard enough to keep personal and business bills paid while temporarily closed seeking medical help.
