Hey everyone, My name is Tomas, I’m 16, originally from Mississauga, Canada, and I’m setting up this fundraiser for my parents to help with the bills they receive and make up for the time they lose at work. A little bit of a side story as well. My grandma (mom’s mom) passed away in January. When we had seen her last year in November, she said she’d hold up until at least March, when my mom’s and dad’s birthday’s are. Unfortunately she couldn’t do it, but she had been through tons, she needed peace. All of this happened the day after my mom’s birthday, it’s like my grandma kicked me out of heaven. ❤️ This is my story and why I need your help: On March 23rd, I had woken up with severe pain, an extremity of pain in my lower intestines. Having Crohn's disease, this wasn't unusual. I kept trying to go to the bathroom, make myself puke, find a comfortable position to lay in, I couldn't do a thing for about an hour, worst pain of my life. I told my parents I have to go to the ER, we left immediately and made it within 10 minutes. I hopped out of the car as soon as we got near, ran inside with my dad, and started begging for help. I got an NG (stomach) tube placed down my throat to clear anything there, didn't help. I got a CAT scan and X-Ray as well, that's when the Dr. said I needed to be air-lifted to a better hospital. The helicopter came and I got air lifted, the ride was super tight and loud (since I'm sure you're wondering how it felt), but that wasn't my concern, the pain was. We landed and I got put on the 8th floor while they waited for my family to arrive, I was sleeping at this point from the pain (my heart rate and blood pressure were through the roof all day). I remember waking up as they tried to get me from the stretcher to the hospital bed and my foot was wedged under a scale, I guess I had passed out and woken back up from the pain. My foot to this day is still a bit swollen. I was in bed for roughly 7 hours before they took me into the OR. I had a BPM of ~ 200 and an awful blood pressure. I'm not sure why they didn't act sooner on me, but apparently they had also X-Rayed my heart during this time and it'd been fine. It's now about 5:00 P.M. after being passed out for hours and what happens is a rush. Security blocks off the floor, every available doctor in the hospital comes into my room, they're all yelling at each other for who's needed and who isn't, my condition is failing. A Dr. was trying to explain to my parents what was going on, ex. "ICU, no OR! ICU, OR!", they were having trouble finding out what to do with me, whether I need surgery now, or I can hold off and go to the intensive care unit for extra monitoring. They ended up taking me for surgery and as soon as I got put under anesthesia, my heart stopped beating on it's own. Dr.'s took over with CPR and electrical shock for 22 minutes until my heart rate had returned on its own. I was very sick, and they didn't know if it'd continue to pump on it's own, my family was let known and it was devastating for them that this would most likely end up in my death. I don't remember anything too much except for some crazy hallucinations during sedation after. Once I was clear/stable, I was moved to the ICU. It was about 9 hours before anyone could come see me, I was on every medication possible you could say, laying in-between 2 ice sheets to ensure my organs wouldn't shut down, at least 20 IVs, artery lines, pick lines, 12 doctors constantly in the room monitoring me, a brain cap on, a camera to watch me as well, etc. It wasn't pretty. I was stable again for a couple of days before they took me for another surgery, everything went well. I woke up on Thursday (3/30, this is a week later and I had no idea any of this had happened) and was recovering insanely quickly. Everything was going great till Friday afternoon when I rolled over onto the side of my body. I heard a pop and had intense pain immediately. I slept the night through it under Dr. supervision (I guess my pain tolerance is too high for my own good) but I was having trouble breathing in the morning which is when we ordered an X-Ray. It had shown multiple leaks in my intestine, I needed another emergency surgery. Everything went well again, lost more intestine and it's a longer healing process now but I'm blessed to be alive. I'm back to walking and eating, but life is going to be different for a while and I need your help to reduce the stress on my parents. I’m not sure if I can post updates and things but if I can I will, this is my first time using GoFundMe and I wish I didn’t have to. ⚠️ Gorey image below. The scabs near my heart are from the shocking during CPR. ⚠️ I thank God to see my loved ones everyday and I hope you guys can help me and my family out too! This was me the night before. Playing COD with my friends, everything was normal. I coded the next day for 22 minutes but God had different plans Here are some more pictures: That’s the helicopter I was airlifted away in! This was me after the initial surgery. 1 of my parents sleep here every night with me. My dad, who brings in a majority of the income, has lost 95% of his work. Insurance has been and continues to be a pain for us. All I ask is that you keep me and my family in your prayers
