Tommy Austin medical care
Donation protected
I know a lot of people would like to help Tommy and his family in some way. While insurance will cover a lot of medical expenses, there are always extras that take a financial toll on anyone dealing with a major illness, such as co-pays, transportation costs, hotels, etc. He will also be out of work for months while dealing with this. It would be great if they didn’t have to be concerned about finances during this time and could focus on healing. If you would like to help, please feel free to donate. While Tommy won’t ask for help, I know that he will be very grateful. If you can’t donate financially, please pray for complete healing for Tommy, pray for Karen and the rest of Tommy’s family, and pray for a donor and their family.

Since I didn’t share this in my original post I will share it at this point. After a physical on April showed some abnormalities in my blood work I have undergone numerous tests and visited with two doctors. The original diagnosis was liver cancer with non-alcoholic cirrhosis and I would need a transplant. We were sent to a liver specialist who then contradicted the original doctor and told us I have bile duct cancer and am not a transplant candidate. He has since changed his mind about the diagnosis but after the initial confusion we decided to seek another opinion. My wonderful boss at work recommended we visit The Cancer Treatment Center in Atlanta. So now we are here hoping a praying for a firm diagnosis, plan of treatment and a sense of urgency from our medical team.
My family and I have been overwhelmed and touched by the outpouring of love, prayers and offers of support. We are thankful for you all and grateful to you. I will keep you updated as we continue the fight.
God bless you all!!

First of all I want to thank everyone for your love, prayers and offers of assistance and support. We are so grateful for our prayer warriors and all of the folks who reached out to us to share good thoughts and concern.
It has been a rough journey and there are still battles to fight. I have been at Medical College of Virginia/VCU for the past nine days getting a “tune up”. We received the news yesterday that I am now “listed” for a liver transplant. This process may take 4-6 months, but my doctors are confident it will be sooner, rather than later. I am hopeful to be on the sidelines in February.
I was able to return home yesterday, with a pic line for IV antibiotics, as I have a blood infection. So grateful to be out of the hospital and home where I can rest.
We know that God has a plan for us and we have turned it over to him. The support of our prayer warriors has sustained us and we cannot put into words how much our friends and warriors have meant in this fight. We appreciate the continued prayers. Love you all.❤️
I will try to do better with updates now that we are home.
