Tommy and Yejis fire recovery

Hi, my name is Jackie, a good friend of Tommy and Yeji (husband and wife) and their dog Somi. They’re in so much shock over what happened that they haven’t been able to reach out to anyone for help, so I set this up for them so at least it’s one thing to worry about. The funds would be used to help them get back on their feet— any medical expenses for themselves and their dogs, pay for their temporary housing as they’re currently in an Airbnb, fix the damages in their home, purchase any furniture that’s been burned in the fire, etc.

Their home caught on fire just the other day at 3AM from electrical short circuits cables. Tommy was awake at the time but by the time he got to it, it was too late as the flames spread quickly and the living room was in flames, burning furniture, clothes, electronics, and more. There was secondary water damage from the water sprinklers that went off in the home as well. Their dog, Somi, ran out of the house from the open door but luckily with help, they were able to find her. Somi is still scared and shaken but seems to be getting better every day. They do not have fire insurance that covers the home and Tommy does not have medical insurance. Yeji is unable to work due to the PTSD from the incident. They are devastated but are grateful they’re alive and hopeful they will recover. Please pray for them to have a quick and healthy recovery from this.

Pasadena 에 살던 재미교포 남편과 서울에서 태어난 한국인 아내입니다.

11/12일 새벽 세시.

결혼한지 일년도 안 된 새 신혼집에 불이 났습니다.

베터리 충전 케이블 합선이 원인인 것 같습니다.

다행히 깨어있던 남편이 낌새를 느끼고 달려가 발견했지만 순식간에 번져 커진 불은 이미 거실 전체를 삼켰습니다.

키우는 강아지 소미는 열린 문을 통해 집을 나가 사라졌지만 노력 끝에 다행히 찾았고 무사했습니다.

그렇게 저희 가족 모두 무사히 살았습니다.

하지만 화재가 커서 가구와 전자제품들 그리고 인테리어등이 타버렸고 온 집안이 재로 가득차 옷과 가구, 숟가락,칫솔,접시등 사소한 물건까지 모두 사용하기 어려운 피해가 일어났습니다.

또한 스프링쿨러 작동으로 물로인한 2차피해로 집이 물에 잠기고 젖는 피해로 저희는 가족이 모두 손으로 물을 퍼냈습니다.

남편은 미국인이여서 개인보험이나 화재보험 등 어떠한 사보험이 없고, 아내는 화재보험이 없어 배상이 불가능하여 걱정이 큽니다.

현재는 에어비엔비에서 지내고 있습니다.

집이 고쳐질 때 까지는 밖에서 지내야합니다.

아직은 사고 후유증 PTSD로인해 당분간 일을 못하게 됐습니다.

다친곳도 많지만 저희는 살아있음에 감사하며 불에탄 집에서 웃으며 사진을 찍었습니다.

이제 강아지는 잘 뛰어놀고 조금씩 밥도 먹습니다.

저희 가족이 앞으로 더 많은 웃음을 지을 수 있도록, 다시 건강해 질 수 있도록 관심 부탁드립니다.
