This Go Fund Me campaign is to help Tom Hinman and his family through an unexpected and possibly life changing accident.
A Little Bit about Tom and his Family
Tom is a hardworking and kind man that grew up in a small town in Connecticut. People would describe Tom as generous, dedicated, and loving. He would offer someone the shirt off his back and do it with a smile.
Tom grew up in the small town of New Hartford, Connecticut. He is part of a close-knit family that includes his mother, Barbara, and his brother, Pete. He went to Northwestern Regional #7 and went on to get his culinary degree from the Culinary Institute of America, in New York. Food is a passion and a life style for Tom and is something that he shares with his wife, Ami. Tom and Ami have been married almost 7 years and have one beautiful child.
Tom and Ami have continued to live in the area that they grew up in and became a lively part of New Hartford by previously owning the Foothills Delery. They worked together to create a welcoming and inviting deli and bakery. Between great foods, fantastic baked goods, smiles on their faces, and their willingness and desire to get to know their clients, the Foothills Delery was a thriving part of New Hartford. Since closing the delery, Tom has continued to work with food and Ami spends a great deal of time raising their son.
The Accident
On Saturday, June 20th, Tom was driving home from work over Avon Mountain. As Tom vividly recalls, a car went half the way over into Tom’s lane causing a collision between the side of the car and Tom, who was on a motorcycle. Tom sustained serious injuries to his left leg. The muscle, tendons, and bones were crushed. He was rushed to the hospital and into surgery. Since last Saturday night, Tom has had four surgeries and three blood transfusions. At this point, it is unknown if the leg will function properly or with any normal mobility. There is discussion of the possibility of still losing the leg and needing a prosthetic leg. The doctors have said Tom is looking at several more surgeries, an extended stay at a rehabilitation center, and a great deal of physical therapy.
Donations
Please consider donating to Tom and his family. Any donations would help this family to offset the increasing medical costs, the hefty travel expenses, and the living expenses of this family.
