TomGen Music for Middle Schoolers is a 501(c)3 public charity dedicated to music education. We strongly believe that every child should have the opportunity to learn music, regardless of family income or other circumstance. We accept donations of band instruments, repair them in our shop, and distribute them to those in need. Monetary donations would help us to purchase more instruments and restock our repair supplies. It is amazing how much it costs to buy things like saxophone pads, trombone water keys, handles for cases, solder, and the numerous other things involved. Every penny we receive will be used for instruments and repair. We receive no pay for our efforts. We will provide a receipt for tax purposes for those who provide an address.
About us:
1. We are TomGen Music for Middle Schoolers, a 501(c)3 public charity. EIN 47-170215. Our names are Tom and Gensie Waldrop. We are retired from acedemia and are spending our retirement years (and many dollars) placing band instruments in the hands of children in need. We live in Seneca, SC. We met in band and strongly beleive in the value of music education. Tom plays tuba; Gensie plays flute.
2. We are raising money to provide band instruments to middle school children who cannot afford them any other way. We donate the instruments to middle schools and they loan them to students.
3. Money raised here will be used to buy instruments, repair supplies, and to pay shipping. No money goes into our pockets. So far, we have donated instruments to 8 schools in the U.S., Haiti, and Guatemala.
4. This is a cause to which we have dedicated our retirement years. We are spending countless hours and thousands of our own dollars for this project.
5. We will be quite thankful for every contribution, small or large.
