My dad Tomas Basaldua was welcomed home to his eternal home yesterday Sunday August 14, 2022 at 7pm.
We were on vacation at my mom's timeshare just an hour away since Thursday. It happened very suddenly and of course we weren't expecting it. He had been battling cancer for the last 4 years and had been on dialysis for the last year. On Thursday August 11 He was involved in a small collision in my mom's vehicle when he was parking the car and hit the accelerator instead of break and ran into the tree. Thankfully he walked away for the accident with no apparent injuries and it happened at the timeshare. He was pretty upset about it all the whole weekend and we think he either had some internal injury or the stress of all of this weighed on his heart. On Saturday after he got back from dialysis he told me he wasn't feeling well and wasn't himself. He had been having chest pains and woke up around 2am with more pain in chest and abdomin. I advised he needed to go to hospital and so I drove him there along with my mom. She stayed with him the entire night and he was doing well when I went back to see them the next morning. My mom told me the doctors had done some scans and saw his cancer has spread to his lungs and color and possibly his liver. All of this that was going on could have been a contribution to how things progressed. By 4pm on Sunday his heart was giving out and they couldn't keep him stable and by 7pm he had passed away.
He didn't have anything in place as far as burial plans and now my mom, myself, and other siblings are having to make these arrangements very quickly and come up with a large amount of money in a few days for his memorial. There are just so many costs to consider and we have half of the money and are just needing the other half to cover his burial expense.
My father was a great man and had the kindest heart and always put his family first. He will be missed greatly and leaves behind his wife of almost 53 years, 7 children and over 30 grandchildren, and has 11 siblings.
We are asking our family, extended family, and or friends to donate any dollar amount to help with the other amount of his funeral expenses which is $5000. We appreciate everyone who has reached out to show their condolences and share stories about my dad. It means the world to us!
We are planning on having a memorial hopefully this Saturday and will have more details to come. We rest assure he is whole again and no longer in pain or suffering. He made it to 86 years old in July!
