Dear ELT members,
We have a momentous date approaching, one we should celebrate with a passion only GDSP can muster. In our inaugural newsletter, our very own Tom Chan spoke with openness and sincerity about December 7th 2012, the day he was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. His surgeon initially diagnosed him as stage 3. After consulting with Dr. Google, he learned this gave him a 30% chance of surviving 5 years (2017). Unfortunately, it was then discovered the Cancer had spread to the lymph system, making it stage 4. This reduced his chances of making 5 years to 8%. No one explains better than Tom, so if you have not watched it, please make 12 minutes for this:https://broadcast.amazon.com/videos/616663.
There is a great news. After 2.5 years of trying all possible chemo therapy treatments, and being told there was no more medical science could do for him; Tom was accepted on to a clinical trial for a new immunotherapy drug. His cancer remains incurable, but thanks to this treatment, he is beating all of the worst odds Dr Google can muster.
December 7th 2022 Tom gets to celebrate his 10 years survival anniversary.
Sorry, had to break the Arial 10 rule for the above statement! Tom considers GDSP as his extended family. As his extended family let’s celebrate and mark this event with Tom. We have set up a gift collection page: https://www.cheddarup.com/group-gift/. If you would like to donate, it would be greatly appreciated. The plan, is to get Tom an Aluminium plaque inscribed with a message from his GDSP family. To be presented by Elizabeth at an LT meeting scheduled on December 5th (invite to be sent out by Sadie). Any additional funds collected; will be given to Tom with a suggestion he takes his Wife for a blow out meal for Tom. Creating and linking a very positive memory to an incredible milestone.
