My dad, Tom Schaefer, on September 27th had a extreme and sudden heart attack that left him hospitalized. It's a miracle he's alive. All thanks to our wonderful neighbor, the paramedics, and the nurses at Northside Hospital.

Unfortunately even with cameras, interviews, and headlines there are still aspects of this medical emergency that don't make the stories.

News stories do not pay medical bills, and life-saving miracles are not the cheapest commodity.

My family is so grateful for my dad to be alive. However we also need to pay for the ambulance, ICU visit, prescriptions, doctors, cardiologists, among other medical expenses that come. And while we are applying for charity and financial assistance due to lack of health insurance that still will not cover everything.
