Tom scanlan expense fund
Donation protected
About 5 months ago, Tom Scanlan began suffering from back and shoulder pain. He was diagnosed repeatedly with pinched nerves and sent home with pain medication. Finally after a second trip in two days to the E.R. because he became unable to walk, he was sent to a larger hospital where it was discovered he had masses growing on his spine. They were biopsied and he was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocitic Leukemia (APL). While APL is a very treatable cancer, one of the unfortunate side effects is that it causes bleeding issues. Due to this, he developed a hematoma around his spinal cord after the surgery, which caused a spinal cord injury. He is now a level t4 parapalegic. He was able to come home two weeks ago, after spending three months in the hospital. He has infusion treatments for the APL 5 days a week for up to a year. Any money raised will go to help pay medical bills, provide uncovered medical equipment (transporatation etc.), and provide a cushion for him and his wife during these difficult times. Thank you for donating or sharing.
