Tom Paul's Recovery Fund

On September 1, 2023, my grandfather, Tom Paul was admitted to the ER after a few days of excruciating and agonizing pain in his head. After several scans and tests as well as a transfer to a different hospital, it was determined that he had a large mass that was revealed to be a brain abscess. The first attempt at surgery to place a drain was unsuccessful and resulted in some neurological declines. A second surgery was planned due to these declines and the drain was finally placed successfully. Around this time he also began having trouble breathing and was eventually intubated and placed on a ventilator in order to give his body a break. He is currently off the ventilator and has made some progress but as one would imagine, his healing journey has not been linear and he has been very up and down in the last week. He is still in the ICU and we are unsure of how long he will need to stay in the hospital. He has already been out of work for the past 2 weeks since being admitted and will be out for a minimum of a month but our guess is that it will more than likely be several months before he is able to return to work. Tom is the sole provider for himself and my grandmother, Lois and has always worked hard to ensure that his family is taken care of. Anyone who knows him knows that he is a good man who cares deeply for his family and friends. We wanted to start this fundraiser with the hopes of lessening the financial burden for them during these difficult and uncertain weeks ahead.
