This account has been set up for the family of Tom Parcher. The following is a update from Paige.
Tom was involved in a tragic motor vehicle accident on April 20th. He was airlifted to Mercy in Mason City, stabilized, then airlifted to Mayo in Rochester. He has suffered multiple injuries; with his spinal cord being the most severe. He had surgery on his back Saturday. Time will tell how the healing process will go. He has movement in his arms and he has been writing to communicate. He has no feeling or movement from the diaphragm down. The most important thing now is how it heals. His pelvis is fractured. There was some internal bleeding due to the fracture. A procedure was done to stop the bleeding. He is set for surgery on his pelvis sometime today. Toms sternum is broken which there is no procedure for. His heart had a little bit of bruising most likely from the sternum. There is a cervical fracture in his neck that he will have a brace for until healed. They found a small bleed in his brain which they have been monitoring closely. There has been no change and it should resolve on its own. Along with the brain bleed he has a fracture in his skull. He has two lacerations on the back of his head. His lungs were leaking air so he has two chest tubes in place. He is breathing on his own now and we are hoping he’ll be off the ventilator soon. Otherwise no internal damage to his organs or brain. He is responsive. He is so strong and fighting. We appreciate all of the prayers and ask you to please keep them coming. He is meant to be here with us. He is a miracle. He is an amazing husband and he has the most beautiful baby boy that loves and needs his ‘dada’ so much. Life is not over for Tom it is just going to be different. It will be a long recovery but we have faith that with his strength, determination and encouragement from everyone he will be able to live a happy life with his family. At this time the family request no visitors so Tom can rest and allow his body to heal. We appreciate all of your acts of kindness, prayers and continued support. There has been an account set up at first citizens national bank, or a donation drop off location established at State Farm insurance to assist the family with the many expenses that will accumulate over the next several months.
Also if anybody wants to send cards/mail to Tom or Paige you can send it to 717 kelly mall suite A (state farm insc office) family will continue to make frequent trips to the hospital, and will ensure any and all mail is delivered to them.
