Tom Mayer health emergency

My younger brother, Tom Mayer, has been in the hospital for two weeks in ICU with a serious bacterial infection and his kidney function is failing. He was recently transferred by Med flight to the University of Chicago. Never a good time to go through something like this. But this hit him at the worst possible time with transitioning into a new job and not having insurance yet. Luckily we can get Cobra insurance with his former employer. So we are paying for Cobra right now. We will probably have to move all his things into to storage from his apartment as he is being treated. It looks as if he will probably be there a minimum of 3 months. During this time he has undergone 4 surgeries so far to remove the infected tissues and is undergoing Dialysis. He is in a medically induced coma at the time to keep him comfortable. He will need reconstructive surgeries to repair those areas once they are convinced the infection has stopped and been completely removed. He is in for a long recovery and with just switching jobs in a terrible position. We are asking for anyone who is able and willing to help him and us out please donate. Funds will be used to pay his Cobra insurance, $683 a month, and other medical expenses. It will also help with getting his possessions moved and stored until he can get healed and recovered and back on his feet. We also are going to need legal help for either guardianship or power of attorney on his behalf to take care of his financial obligations. We are devastated and feeling overwhelmed with all of this and anything you can donate will be greatly appreciated and a huge help. Please keep Tom in your thoughts and prayers.
