Hey guys we’re so thankful for everyone reaching out to see how our dad is doing and seeing all the support he has.
He is eligible for a transplant, his blood pressure is more stable and his dialysis isn’t constant right now. With them lowering the medication for his blood pressure he’s being considered to be moved out of the ICU into a regular room. Which is all good news, HOWEVER
Post transplant he’ll need to be close to the hospital for all his care and need someone there with him to support him, he won’t be able to live alone. The ONLY thing keeping him from getting a transplant right now is he does not have the support in Chicago he needs post operation.
Ideally St.Louis would have been a great place for him to go for recovery due to his support system is there, we even communicated this with OSF multiple times before they life flighted him to UIC, letting them know that whenever he’s approved for the transplant it would be needed to be done in St.Louis.
We were able to find a hospital with a bed open and willing to accept dad in St.Louis and he is currently stable enough for the transport however The insurance paid for the transport from OSF to UIC so they are currently denying moving him again since he is currently at a hospital that could do the transplant, they just won’t without the support.
We’re currently trying to find out our options, what we can do to fight the insurance and hospitals for transporting him there in the first place against all our wishes. We don’t have the ability to move to Chicago right now to be there to support him, the only option is to move him while there is a bed open and he is stable.
We ask if you or anyone you know could help donate, all the money will go towards transportation as we feel we are battling a clock against how long a bed will stay open and how long he’ll be stable enough to transport.
