On April 19th, our parents, Tom and Kathy, were enjoying a day in the Idaho dunes when the unthinkable happened—they were in a serious accident that flipped their side-by-side end over end three times, finally landing upside down. Both were life-flighted from the dunes and rushed into ICU with critical injuries.
Kathy suffered a broken clavicle, a fractured sternum, and a fracture in her C7 vertebra. Tom has a spinal cord contusion and also fractured his C7. On April 20th, he underwent major spinal surgery to stabilize his neck—surgeons repaired damaged ligaments from C4–C7 and placed a rod and cage to support his spine.
Thankfully, both are now stable, but their journey is far from over. Recovery will require months—if not more than a year—of intensive rehab and physical therapy. They will remain hospitalized in Idaho for the next week and then be transferred to a hospital in Seattle to begin the long road of healing closer to home.
This GoFundMe is to help cover medical expenses, travel costs, lost wages, and everything in between as they navigate this incredibly difficult time. Every donation, share, and prayer means the world to our family right now.
Thank you for supporting Tom and Kathy—we’re so grateful.
