Tom Bigelow's Final Expenses

Donation protected

Thomas R. Bigelow passed away December 7, 2022, at McLaren hospital in Flint. A memorial service will take place at the Lennon United Methodist Church, 1014 Oak Street, Lennon, Michigan, on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 11 a.m., Pastor Jerry Mowls officiating. Tom’s ashes will be interred with his parents at Fairview Cemetery in Linden at a later date. Tom was born on September 3, 1963, in Flint, the son of Robert and Gladys Bigelow. His family moved to the village of Lennon when he was young, and he lived in Lennon for the remainder of his life. He was a lover of all things sports, and especially loved attending junior high and high school basketball games to watch the kids of his friends play. He was a creature of habit who always kept in touch with friends with weekly phone calls. He also was a committed walker. An avid dog lover, Tom walked a dog or two over the last 15 years, walking a couple of miles twice daily, rain or shine, snow or sleet. On a few occasions, regular travelers on Lansing Highway in the Lennon/Durand area stopped to tell him he was an inspiration as he walked off more than 100 pounds during those early months. Losing weight gave him a new lease on life, and in recent years he was able to enjoy camping trips and the occasional trip to Las Vegas. Tom was predeceased by his parents and brother, Jack Bigelow. He is survived by his sister, Ruth Calkins of Grand Ledge, Michigan, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends would like to recognize and thank Dave Frazee, Tom’s lifetime friend and steadfast caregiver for the last 15+ years. Without Dave’s encouragement and commitment, we all would have had to say goodbye to Tom many years ago. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a fund to cover Tom’s final expenses.

Any funds raised over the amount needed will be donated to the Lennon United Methodist Church, where Tom faithfully attended.
