Those who know Lelo, know that he is genuine, loving and hard working. Lelo is also hilarious, the life of the party, with the ability of making even a stranger feel welcomed in his space. He embraces everyone that he meets with open arms, and loves to live life to its fullest.
Lelo is a husband, father and grandfather. Though he has six biological grandchildren, he has many others to whom he is lelo, to whom he is grandfather, and to whom he is an example of compassion and love. His authentic character is a breath of fresh air.
Its hard to believe that just 4 months ago, Lelo, alongside his family and friends was celebrating his grandsons wedding in Costa Rica. A week filled with lots of laughter and lots of love.
Shortly after the trip, Lelo started to feel ill. He had tenderness throughout his bones and fatigue. Several tests took place that led to the devastating diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia, not only a cancer of the blood but because it is “acute” a type of cancer that spreads quickly if not treated.
Being the Champion that he is, Lelo has decided to undergo chemotherapy. This will consist of four rounds of treatment and being hospitalized for the next 6-8 months.
We believe in the power of miracles and are speaking complete healing over Lelos life, but as we go through this process, we recognize that there is a need that needs to be met. Our goal is to raise $15k, these funds will cover the next 6-8 months of expenses for both Lela and Lelo as they endure this fight together (rent, food, transportation, hospital parking, any additional medical equipment / supplies lelo may need.) This goal will only be met with your support.
