TOLEDO COMMUNITY BASKETBALL COURT
The school closures have made it apparent that Toledo does not have a good outdoor basketball court for our community to use. Since school has been closed, and indoor sports are limited, our kids have been going to other communities to use their courts, or not playing basketball at all.
During construction on the new Toledo High School, we have a great opportunity to add a high quality place for our community to shoot hoops.
The current tennis courts at the high school are being used as a parking lot during construction. When construction is completed, the tennis courts will be restored. HOWEVER, the surface of an outdoor tennis court makes for a great outdoor basketball court too.
Why not add hoops to the edges of the tennis courts? One court may be full of basketball players, and another court may be full with tennis players, both at the same time.
There are currently 3 full size tennis courts. I'm proposing that we add, at minimum, three basketball hoops, and up to 6, depending on the success of the fundraiser.
Because this project was not included in the bond measure, there isn't money alloted to add projects. This addition has to be completely funded from outside resources.
The Point Guard Club would like to facilitate this project and get hoops added to the tennis courts.
Each outdoor hoop has a cost of approximately $1800, plus installation.
