Get excited, you're about to hear me talk about running a marathon for the last time (probably).

I've just kicked off training for Tokyo - my last and final of the 7 World Marathon Majors, the biggest most pain in the a** marathons to get into across the world. A milestone commemorated with a big ol' medal in a milestone year of becoming big ol' myself - crossing that final finish line on the cusp of my 40th.

Because you asked, the Tokyo marathon entry works differently to the other marathon majors. The charity drawing opens before general entry, which means if you want to fundraise it's gotta be your first choice not just a final chance for a coveted bib. And this felt like the year for that. So I chose Plan International because I wanted to extend the support from my supporters to women and girls everywhere. Because running is always where I've found my power. It's where I am constantly reminded I can do hard things (even when I don't really want to). Where limits don't exist.

But unfortunately, in many parts of the world, being a girl is limiting. Considered reason enough to be denied basic rights like education, healthcare, and safety. Plan International works to change that by creating tangible structures like schools and resources, alongside intangible shifts like changing minds and training advocates, so that girls don't just survive but get to build full lives with dignity.
