Together for Jamaica: Relief for Families Hit by Hurricane Melissa

Hello everyone, my name is Orette Vaccianna, owner of Jamaican Roots, LLC in Visalia, California. I was born and raised in Grange Hill, Westmoreland, Jamaica, and my heart is heavy as I share what’s happening back home. On October 28, 2025, Hurricane Melissa tore through Jamaica, leaving behind heartbreaking destruction. My family still lives in my childhood home and community, and they were hit hard by the storm.

Right now, the entire area is without power, internet, food, clean water, clothing, shoes, medication, toiletries, farming and hardware supplies, furniture, school supplies, and baby essentials—basically everything they depend on for daily life has been wiped away.

I’ve always been deeply connected to my community and the surrounding areas. Before moving to Visalia in 2019, I worked as a produce broker in Jamaica and still travel home often. Many friends and customers have been asking how they can help, so I created this page to raise funds and collect donations to support families in Grange Hill, Westmoreland and nearby communities.

I will personally travel to Jamaica to deliver donated items and purchase additional supplies locally to help families rebuild their homes and lives. I’ll also be sharing updates on social media (IG: roots_ja_cuisine) and in person, so you can see exactly how your generosity is making a difference.
