Who I Am & Where I’m From
I am a Jamaican-born citizen who deeply loves my country and people. Though I currently reside in Canada, my heart and family remain in Jamaica and like so many others, I’ve been heartbroken watching the devastation that Hurricane Melissa has brought to the island I call home.
My Relationship to the People I’m Raising Funds For
The people I’m raising funds for are everyday Jamaican families who have lost their homes, their roofs, and their sense of security due to this storm. These are mothers, fathers, children, and elders many of whom were already struggling before the hurricane hit. I have close family and friends living in the affected parishes, and I’ve heard firsthand how entire communities are now left without shelter, power, or the basic resources to begin rebuilding. This fundraiser is a personal mission of compassion and solidarity to help my people get back on their feet.
How the Funds Will Be Spent
All donations received will go directly toward purchasing and distributing building materials to families most affected by Hurricane Melissa. Our focus is to help restore safe shelter and stability for those who have lost their homes.
Your contributions will fund the purchase and delivery of:
• Zinc sheets for roofing
• Lumber and plywood for walls and support structures
• Cement and concrete blocks for rebuilding foundations
• Nails, screws, and tarps for immediate repairs and weather protection
• Transportation costs to deliver materials to hard-hit communities
We are committed to full transparency. Updates, photos, and receipts will be shared as rebuilding progresses, so donors can see how every dollar is used to make a tangible difference.
Why It Matters
Jamaica’s strength has always been in its people in our unity, our resilience, and our faith. Even in tragedy, we lift one another. With your help, we can bring hope and dignity back to those who have lost so much.
Together, we can rebuild homes.
Together, we can rebuild hearts.
Together, we rise.
