My name is Alison Romano and the sister of Amanda Thomas. Amanda, her husband Silas and two boys Sawyer (6) and Scout (3) have called Western North Carolina home for 15 years. On the morning of September 27th their house and land had been taken away by a mudslide in Burnsville, NC. By the grace of God, Silas was able to grab their two boys and run to a neighbors house for safety. For two days our family searched and anxiously awaited to hear if they made it out okay. They were very fortunate to be unharmed physically but the damage to their home, land and vehicles is devastating. My hope is to help them financially until they can rebuild their life in Burnsville and heal with time. Silas had his own landscaping business and has now lost all of his equipment. Their income is uncertain for the foreseeable future, but we hope to know more in the next few weeks. We have discussed the use of funds and anything unused will be donated to the Yancy County Fire Department. Thank you all for reaching out and asking how to help!
