My name is Tareq. I am creating this campaign on behalf of Basma Abushahla, who is suffering from the war in Gaza. I want to share with you today what she and her family are going through in Gaza due to the destruction and dire circumstances they are facing.

" I write to you from the heart of a refugee in his own city, where everything around us is falling apart — the homes, the dreams, even our faces — yet we keep moving, because we know there are hearts far away that still beat for us. In Gaza, we learn every day how to live with half a heart, half a home, and half a life. But I try to hold on to what remains — to my mother’s voice despite her illness, to the smell of bread, if it exists at all.

Since the war returned, nothing has been the same. Every day, we lose something — a home, a neighbor, or a piece of our soul — and we face hardships we can neither keep up with nor adapt to. I am asking you to be part of my survival, to help me protect my family, as I try not to feel powerless in front of them despite all they have lost. We now count our loved ones the way we count our breaths — fearing that one of them might suddenly be gone.
