My name is Gna and I’m fundraising on behalf of my friend and classmate Mila. She is a 33-year-old single mother of two amazing boys and one of the hardest working people I know. Mila is in nursing school with just two semesters left before graduation. She’s so close to achieving her dream of becoming a nurse and building a better life for her family—but right now, she’s at risk of losing it all.
During our first semester, Mila lost her father. Despite her grief, she kept pushing forward in school. Recently, things became even harder when she lost her job after needing to miss two shifts in one week to care for her sick son. Since then, she has been actively searching for work that will allow her to balance nursing school and childcare, but as many of you know, it’s incredibly difficult to find flexible employment that fits with long hours of class, clinicals, and parenting.
She’s applied for unemployment, but it barely covers anything. She’s also tried for government assistance, but as a full-time student without steady part-time hours, she doesn’t qualify. Mila has done everything possible—she’s applied for help through school, but after tuition is covered, she’s still left struggling with rent, groceries, and gas. She drives two hours each way just to get to class and clinicals.
Mila would never ask for help herself, but I know how much she’s struggling, and I can’t sit back and watch her risk giving up on her dream when she’s come so far. She is an incredible student, mother, and future nurse who deserves the chance to finish strong.
We’re asking for help to cover Mila’s basic living expenses until she can find childcare or employment that works with her demanding schedule. Any amount—big or small—will make a difference and help relieve the financial pressure that’s threatening to push her out of school.
Mila is two semesters away from changing her life and her boys’ lives forever. Please help us make sure she can cross the finish line.
Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and support.
