Some children desperately want to learn — but anxiety, trauma, autism, ADHD, and unmet special educational needs make school feel impossible.
They are not naughty.
They are not lazy.
They are overwhelmed, frightened, and unheard.
Right now, too many of these children are sitting at home watching their confidence slowly fade, while their families feel exhausted, helpless, and desperate for support.
This fundraiser is for those children.
Hello, I’m Roslyn
I am the founder of Time2Shine SEN Tutoring, and I am raising funds to support vulnerable children who are unable to attend school due to anxiety, autism, ADHD, trauma, and unmet special educational needs.
My goal is to create a safe, nurturing SEN-friendly learning space — somewhere children can finally feel understood, accepted, and supported, and where families feel welcomed rather than judged.
Why This Is So Personal to Me
This work is deeply personal.
I am a mother of seven children, and at different stages of their lives, every one of them has needed additional support.
My children have experienced a wide range of needs, including:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
ADHD
Cerebral palsy
Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
Anxiety and behavioural needs
I am also a grandmother to four wonderful grandchildren — all of whom are on the autism spectrum.
This world of additional needs is not something I learned from textbooks.
It is something I have lived every single day for decades.
More recently, I was formally diagnosed with ADHD myself — something I had always known deep down. That diagnosis gave me even greater insight into how exhausting, overwhelming, and misunderstood life can feel when your brain works differently.
I understand this journey not only as a professional — but as a parent, a grandparent, and as someone living it herself.
That is why I put my heart and soul into supporting other families.
Because I know how lonely, frightening, and relentless this path can be.
Why This Work Is Needed More Than Ever
I work with children who desperately want to learn — but simply cannot cope with traditional school environments.
Some experience crippling anxiety.
Some are autistic or have ADHD and feel constantly misunderstood.
Some have experienced trauma or years of unmet needs.
Many are now completely avoiding school.
For these children, school is not just difficult — it feels terrifying.
Parents are left watching their child shut down, lose confidence, and fall further behind, while waiting lists grow longer and support feels increasingly out of reach.
These families don’t need judgement.
They need understanding, compassion, and practical support.
The Current Challenge
At the moment, I travel to each child’s home to provide one-to-one support.
While this allows me to help some families, it severely limits how many children I can reach.
Every week, more families contact me asking for help — and it breaks my heart knowing I cannot reach them all.
This fundraiser is about changing that.
Our Vision for the Future
My dream is to open a dedicated SEN-friendly learning space — a calm, welcoming environment where:
More children can access consistent, specialist support
School avoidance programmes can run gently and safely
Small group sessions can rebuild confidence and social skills
Sensory and emotional regulation resources are readily available
Parents feel supported, listened to, and understood
A space like this would allow me to help more children, reach families sooner, and offer real hope to those currently falling through the cracks.
