Hello Everyone,
I’m reaching out to ask for the biggest favor of all. I have a very dear friend, Sherry, who has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer — gastric cancer, which affects the lining of the stomach.
A little background: Gastric cancer, also known as stomach cancer, begins in the stomach lining and can develop in any part of the stomach. It may also spread to other areas of the body. Common symptoms include unexplained weight loss, stomach pain, difficulty swallowing, and nausea. Risk factors can include age, family history, certain dietary factors, and infection with Helicobacter pylori bacteria. Treatment often involves surgery, chemotherapy, and/or radiation therapy.
(For more detailed information, please visit the American Cancer Society or Mayo Clinic websites.)
Right now, Sherry is undergoing chemotherapy, and it has really been taking a toll on her. We don’t yet know what stage her cancer is in, and if the chemo doesn’t work, she may need to have part—or possibly all—of her stomach removed.
Sherry is not one to ask for much, but she will be facing mounting medical bills. If you’re able to help in any way, it would mean the world to her. Prayers are also very much appreciated — please consider adding Sherry to your church prayer list or keeping her in your thoughts.
Sherry truly is one of a kind — a strong, kind, and caring person who means so much to so many. She has three sons who love her dearly and are doing everything they can to support her, as well as three wonderful grandsons who adore their grandma.
Thank you in advance for your love, support, and prayers.
With gratitude,
Theresa
