Hi everyone, I’m Lexi Randee’s sister. Many of you may already know why this has appeared on your feed, but for those who don’t, I want to share what’s been happening
We wanted to share another update on Charlie and what the family is facing right now.
As many of you know, Charlie was first diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. After treatment and surgery, he was cancer-free for a period of time. This past year, the cancer returned as stage 4. After 12 additional rounds of chemotherapy, he underwent a major surgery on January 2nd in hopes of gaining more time — more time to live life with his family and create memories together. During that surgery, doctors removed 31 tumors from his abdominal cavity and performed HIPEC, a heated chemotherapy treatment administered directly into his abdomen for 90 minutes.
Since then, the road has been incredibly difficult.
Charlie has been in and out of the hospital battling one complication after another. He has experienced extreme pain, trouble breathing, fluid in his lungs that needs to be drained, infections, unstable blood pressure, and has required blood transfusions. At times, he has needed to be intubated to help him breathe. Right now, doctors are unable to perform an MRI to get clearer answers until he is able to breathe properly on his own. So much remains uncertain.
Charlie is unable to be alone and is currently unable to even leave the couch without assistance. Randee has not left his side, and their children have been balancing both school and work while taking turns being with their dad so he is never by himself. Watching their husband and father go through this each day has taken a toll on so many hearts. The emotional weight of not knowing what the future holds is incredibly heavy for all of them.
Charlie has worked his entire life to support his family and has given them everything he possibly could. For over 20 years, he has coached and served as President of youth football and cheerleading, and he has also coached basketball, baseball, and flag football — always showing up for the kids in this community, whether on the field, on the court, or on the sidelines. He has poured his heart into building young athletes and supporting families. Now, the man who was always moving, leading, and cheering others on is fighting just to get through each day.
Their daughters dream of having their dad walk them down the aisle one day. Their sons hope he will be there for their biggest milestones. Randee planned to spend the rest of her life by his side, growing old together the way they always imagined. That is why this fight means everything.
We wish we had better news to share. The future is uncertain, and this has taken a tremendous toll emotionally and financially. Between ongoing treatments, extended hospital stays, and mounting medical and household expenses, they are struggling immensely while simply trying to hold their family together.
We are so grateful for every donation, prayer, message, and share. The love and support surrounding their family means more than words can express. Please continue to keep Charlie, Randee, and their children in your thoughts.
