I am Melissa andI have known Scott for the past 15 years. He is my best friend. I have seen him at his very worst when he was close to dying 8 years ago because of his selfish drinking and drugging and I have seen him struggle to rise from the ashes, more than once, to become the most helpful, generous and loving person I know as I know as many of you who take the time to read this can attest to yourselves. If you have ever had a conversation with Scott about how he changed, he attributes it all to "people allowing the good in our world (God) to work through them in helping" him when he needed it and God giving him the strength and courage to stop drinking and change. Scott and I have always helped each other when we needed it and I wish I could help him more now but this is the way I see best. He hired me as his assistant this Summer when my regular job was struggling and it helped beyond words. 2 months ago, the owner of the company told him to fire me (and 4 others) unexepectedly. In typical Scott fashion, he bucked the order and kept us as long as he could. I decided to go but 3 of those people still work there today thanks to him. Scott was fired 3 weeks ago while the owner lost his temper over something he thought Scott didn't do, but he actually did. When Scott got his last paycheck he sent close to half to 2 people who needed it. Scott is very private about who and how he helps, but he has shared with me some of it. The craziest was Walmart shutting down his online account (twice) to transfer money to others because of "suspicious behavior/too many transfers." I share this about him so you know Scott helps everywhere he can, so I am comfortable in asking others to Help him. Not only did he loose his job, but the transmission has gone out on his car, his rent is coming up and he is close on his bills there too. I watched Scott struggle to get on his feet the first 3 years of his sobriety and I have watched him do so so well when he is working. He just needs a hand up to get back to being productive again and a contributing citizen. He originally said no to me setting up this GoFundMe because of embarrising his Mother. After discussions with her she is ok with it. If you don't like Scott or have feelings that me doing this for him (and those that love him) doesn't feel comfortable with you, I hope you keep that to yourself. I know and love him in a way you don't if that's how you feel. He has three estimates to repair/rebuild the transmission from $1800 to $2500 and he needs $700 for his rent and a little bit more for his phone bill. I set the goal at $3000 and if we can get him close to that amount he has an anonymous friend in his hometown that said he will "get him over the hump." If you can help him, please do. He is definately worthy of your help, love and investment. The goal is to get his car running so he can work and thrive again and save the roof over his head. If we can repair his car but can't save where he is living he can go live with his mom and regroup from there. PLEASE HELP HIM!
