Together, let's make a change for Andrew Brawn

Dear Friends,
As many of you will know in June 2013 Andrew suffered a bleed on the brain (a haemorrhage) with stroke like symptoms. He was only 49 when this happened. At the time a brain scan showed that he has a large cavernoma (cluster of abnormal blood vessels) in his brain stem. Unfortunately due to the location of this cavernoma surgery is not an option. Andrew, Allison and their boys – in their typically resilient way – made the best of things and life gradually returned to a new norm. At the start of this year however Andrew was offered a new treatment called a gamma knife. This is a form of radiotherapy which targets the cavernoma and tries to shrink it.
Unfortunately a few months after this treatment, instead of improving, Andrew’s health has taken quite a sudden turn for the worse. He has weakness and numbness down the left side of his body, double vision, loss of balance and an involuntary tremor in his left arm. He is currently taking high dose steroids in an attempt to reduce swelling in the brain. His health is continuing to deteriorate. As a consequence Andrew is neither able to work or drive. I’m sure you can imagine how this turn of events has been devastating for the whole family.
The Brawns are dearly loved by us and we are keen to support them in any way we can. We are sure many of you will have been touched by their kindness and generosity in the past. They really are a “glass half full family” and have kept their collective chins up in what must have been some very challenging moments. Andrew has even maintained his dry sense of humour on Facebook .....!
This situation has put the family under immense financial strain. Allison is working full time and caring for Andrew who is essentially housebound. There have been many expenses as well as the loss of Andrew’s income. We are trying to help lessen the burden as much as possible with covering expenses such as travel costs, and general day to day living expenses. I understand times are hard, and we are all busy with our own families, lives, and bills, however any contribution you can spare - no matter how small - will help. This donation campaign was not requested by the Brawns, instead it was an idea constructed from love by their closest and dearest. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts, for your kindness and generosity, and for the difference you have made.
