Hello Friends, Family, and Church Family

"I would like to share an opportunity for you to be blessed and take part in God's work in one of the neediest communities in the country of El Salvador by helping to build a church sanctuary.

During our last trip to visit my wife's father in El Salvador, we visited a church near where we were staying (Cantón El Coco, Departamento de Santa Ana) and learned about a pastor who had been traveling to a remote area near the Guatemala border for over three years to plant a church because there were NO churches nearby, and the families in the area were in desperate need of a place to gather and worship God.

This pastor had been making the journey by motorcycle for over three years from the small town where my wife was born to this location, called “Plano Espinos”. When we visited Plano Espinos, we had to take a 4x4 pickup to get there because the area has only two dirt roads that are extremely difficult to drive on.

The community consists of approximately 50-80 families with no stores, no services, and no potable water. The people there are in much need. When we arrived, we found a small, 12x20 ft. church building made of "adobe" with a dirt floors.

My wife and I wanted to join them for their Sunday service at 4:00 PM, so we arrived about two hours early to learn about the community and the church. That day, we met the pastor and the congregation and learned about their years-long challenge to acquire the title to the land and their efforts to build a proper church building.

For years, they were unable to obtain the legal paperwork to transfer the land into the church's name (Assemblies of God, El Salvador) due to a lack of funds and guidance.

How We Got Involved

After the service and fellowship, we felt strongly that God had led us there for an IMPORTANT REASON. From that day forward, my wife and I have helped this small church obtain the legal title to the land with the assistance of leaders and an attorney from the main church.

As of now, we have completed the walls of the church, which measure 11 by 9 meters (approximately 36 feet long by 29.5 feet wide, or 1,062 square feet), and we are currently working on building the metal support structure for the roof.

The pastor and several men from the congregation are collecting “sand” from a nearby “river” for construction and are providing most of the labor themselves.

Everything we promised them, we have given—and even more—but this project still needs more support to be completed.

What’s Still Needed?

The building still needs:

✅ Electricity

✅ Doors & windows

✅ Flooring

✅ Paint

Since they do not use heating or cooling, the focus is on creating a safe and functional building where the church can worship and grow.

The goal is to first complete the sanctuary and then build living quarters for the pastor and his family next to the church building.

The pastor and his family currently live about 30-45 minutes away by motorcycle. In this part of the country, pastors are expected to live in the church building because most churches have 3-5 or more services per week!!

The pastor here, like most pastors in this area, does NOT receive a salary. The only financial support comes from a small percentage of church offerings, but due to the extreme need of the congregation, pastors in this region only receive $50-$100 per month in financial support.

What Has Been Done So Far?

During the initial stage of the project, we have helped Pastor Luis Ángel with funds to travel to the nearest town (1.5 hours away by car) to buy building materials.

The pastor, church members, and neighboring churches have contributed most of the labor, but they have also hired a skilled contractor ("albañil") to guide them. Still, 85% of the work is being done by the church itself.

From the very beginning (December 2024), my wife and I made it clear that accountability and transparency were essential. We instructed the church to keep detailed financial records to ensure trust and goodwill with the congregation and anyone who donates.

Since then, Pastor Luis Ángel has been sending me reports, pictures, and videos of the progress. The church also has a secretary who records all funds received and tracks all expenses.

In addition to this, there are two other local pastors supervising the construction:

Pastor Manuel Centeno (Pastor of the Assemblies of God in El Coco)

The Area Presbyter, who is the pastor of the Assemblies of God in El Cantón El Tanque. Both oversee the construction and help coordinate labor for the project.

Quisiera compartir con ustedes una oportunidad para ser bendecidos y ser parte de la obra de Dios en una de las comunidades con más necesitad en el país de El Salvador, ayudando a construir un santuario para una iglesia.

Durante nuestro último viaje para visitar al padre de mi esposa en El Salvador, visitamos una iglesia cerca de donde nos hospedábamos (Cantón El Coco, Departamento de Santa Ana) y conocimos a un pastor que había estado viajando a una zona remota cerca de la frontera con Guatemala por más de tres años para plantar una iglesia, porque NO había ninguna iglesia cercana, y las familias del área tenían una necesidad urgente de un lugar donde reunirse y adorar a Dios.

Este pastor ha estado haciendo el viaje en motocicleta por más de tres años desde el pequeño pueblo donde nació mi esposa hasta este lugar llamado “Plano Espinos”. Cuando visitamos Plano Espinos, tuvimos que usar una camioneta 4x4 para llegar allí, ya que el área solo tiene dos calles de tierra que son extremadamente difíciles de transitar.

La comunidad está compuesta por aproximadamente 50-80 familias sin tiendas, sin servicios y sin agua potable. La gente allí está en mucha necesidad. Cuando llegamos, encontramos una pequeña iglesia de 12x20 pies construida de "adobe" con piso de tierra.

Mi esposa y yo queríamos asistir a su servicio dominical a las 4:00 PM, así que llegamos aproximadamente dos horas antes para conocer más sobre la comunidad y la iglesia. Ese día, conocimos al pastor y la congregación y aprendimos sobre su situación de varios años para obtener el título de propiedad del terreno y sus esfuerzos por construir un templo adecuado.

Por años, no habían podido obtener los documentos legales para transferir el terreno al nombre de la iglesia (Asambleas de Dios, El Salvador) debido a la falta de fondos y orientación.

Cómo Nos Involucramos

Después del servicio y la convivencia, sentimos fuertemente que Dios nos había guiado allí por una RAZON muy IMPORTANTE.

Desde ese día en adelante, mi esposa y yo hemos ayudado a esta pequeña iglesia a obtener el título legal del terreno con la asistencia de líderes y un abogado de la iglesia principal.

Hasta ahora, hemos completado las paredes de la iglesia, que miden 11 por 9 metros (aproximadamente 36 pies de largo por 29.5 pies de ancho, o 1,062 pies cuadrados), y actualmente estamos trabajando en la estructura metálica de soporte del techo.

El pastor y varios hombres de la congregación están recogiendo "arena" de un río cercano para la construcción y están proporcionando la mayor parte de la mano de obra.

Todo lo que les prometimos, se los hemos dado—y aún más—pero este proyecto todavía necesita más apoyo para completarse.

¿Qué Falta Por Hacer?

El edificio aún necesita:

✅ Electricidad

✅ Puertas y ventanas

✅ Piso

✅ Pintura

Dado que no utilizan calefacción ni refrigeración, el enfoque principal es crear un templo seguro y funcional donde la iglesia pueda alabar a Dios y crecer.

El objetivo es completar primero el santuario y luego construir las habitaciones para el pastor y su familia, junto a la iglesia.

El pastor y su familia actualmente viven a unos 30-45 minutos en motocicleta. En esta parte del país, se espera que los pastores vivan en la iglesia, ya que la mayoría de las iglesias tienen entre 3 y 5 o más servicios por semana!!

El pastor aquí, como la mayoría de los pastores en esta área, NO recibe un salario. El único apoyo financiero proviene de un pequeño porcentaje de las ofrendas, pero debido a la gran necesidad de la congregación, los pastores en esta región solo reciben entre $50-$100 al mes en suporte económico.

¿Qué Se Ha Logrado Hasta Ahora?

Durante la fase inicial del proyecto, hemos ayudado al pastor Luis Ángel con fondos para viajar al pueblo más cercano (1.5 horas en carro) y comprar materiales de construcción.

El pastor, los miembros de la iglesia y las iglesias vecinas han contribuido con la mayor parte de la mano de obra, pero también han tenido que contratar a un contratista ("albañil") capacitado para guiarlos.

Aun así, el 85% del trabajo lo está haciendo la iglesia misma.

Desde el principio del proyecto (Diciembre del 2024), mi esposa y yo enfatizamos la importancia de la rendición de cuentas y la transparencia. Le pedimos a la iglesia que llevara registros financieros detallados para garantizar confianza y buena voluntad con la congregación y cualquier persona que donara.

Desde entonces, el pastor Luis Ángel me ha estado enviando informes, fotos y videos del progreso. La iglesia también tiene un

secretario que registra todos los fondos recibidos y los gastos.

Además, hay dos pastores locales supervisando la construcción:

Pastor Manuel Centeno (Pastor de la Asamblea de Dios en El Coco)

El Presbítero del Área, quien es el pastor de la Asamblea de Dios en El Cantón El Tanque

Ambos supervisan la construcción y ayudan a coordinar la mano de obra para el proyecto.
