I don’t know how to say Thank you for all the support. Im litterally lost for words. So many donations and so many years of thankfulness. It was hard for me to post because owning a dog is my responsibility but a lot of circumstances around me lately has made that impossible. Now I can breath and Zarwoe have the best rehabilitation thanks to you. I spoke with the vet Yesterday and hearing her honest happiness in her voice when I told Zarwoe hasn’t been shaking for more than 36 hours made me believe he will be fine. It will be some hard months with sacrifices but I’m convinced it will be happy a end.♥️
Zarwoe’s Diagnosis: A Long Road to Recovery
Yesterday, Zarwoe was diagnosed with a herniated disc, where disc material has pushed through the spine and is pressing on a nerve. This has been the cause of the pain and tremors in his legs. It took several vet visits before we finally got the correct diagnosis:
Degenerative Lumbosacral Stenosis (DLSS) / L7-S1.
He underwent a CT scan, which confirmed the condition, and received an injection directly into his spine.
Zarwoe will need this same injection again on August 1st (under anesthesia), and once more around September 1st. If he responds well, he could live several good years with this condition. However, he will never fully recover and will need lifelong medication.
For now, he has to be kept completely still for three months—which means walks no longer than 10 minutes. Starting today, we’ll begin gentle rehab exercises at home. In about a month, he’ll be ready to begin more structured rehabilitation and physiotherapy for the next many months.
It's going to be a tough journey, especially without proper walks and with the daily need for muscle massage to keep him comfortable. But we already see signs of improvement—his leg tremors have been noticeably reduced today—so we’re staying hopeful about his future and he can avoid an operation.
Those who know me, know that asking for help doesn’t come easy.
I’ve explored every other option first, but now I’ve reached a point where I can’t manage it alone.
The insurance covers a part of the costs, but much of the treatment and all of the rehabilitation will need to be paid out of pocket.
Even the smallest donation would mean so much, and truly help give Zarwoe a better future.
Thank you from Zarwoe and family
