Yvette’s Story: A Journey of Hope, Healing, and Love
Hi all,
As many of you know, back in 2020, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. While it was successfully treated at the time, it has returned a few times since—this time in my brain. After nearly a year of total remission, a recent scan just before Christmas showed two lesions were growing again—not exactly the Christmas gift I was hoping for!
Unfortunately, one of the lesions is quite low and central, wrapped around some nerves that affect my throat, including my vocal cords and swallowing. It’s why some of you may have noticed me sounding a bit like Steve Urkel lately (if you’re old enough to remember him!). That was before the lesion wiped my vocal cords out completely, leaving me only able to whisper through much of January. It’s been a VERY quiet start to 2025.
Thankfully, my voice is slowly returning. I completed a round of radiotherapy treatments over the New Year, and since then, I’ve been immersing myself in QiGong and exploring a few alternative healing modalities.
My doctors are optimistic, and we’ve developed a robust treatment plan that includes a wonderful new drug that’s being hailed as a game-changer, showing great results for patients like me.
I’m a strong believer in the body’s natural healing abilities. Alongside my medical treatments, I’m nurturing my return to health through practices like QiGong, meditation, acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, and relaxation bodywork therapy. I’m also taking Chinese herbs and a selection of Western supplements that support overall health and specifically target cancer cells.
I've stepped away from work entirely to focus on healing—not only so I can be around much longer for my three kids but also to prove to myself and others that our bodies truly have powerful healing capabilities.
These treatments and therapies are incredible, but unfortunately, they aren’t covered by Medicare, and the costs add up quickly.
It feels a little funny asking for money (and not just because that rhymes!), but my wonderful friends have reminded me that people genuinely want to help. Setting up this GoFundMe page is a practical and easy way for friends from all over the world to support me.
I also know times are tight for many of us, and I am a big believer in the power of intention and the healing power of love. If you aren’t in a position to give financially, I will gratefully accept any and all prayers of health and healing sent my way.
One of the best things you can do for me is to picture me as healthy, happy, and bouncing my grandbabies on my knee in my later years. Imagine me surrounded by friends and family, loving life as a joyful older lady—or even better, imagine us getting together as older folk, sharing laughter and creating more beautiful memories. I truly believe there is powerful healing in this!
Any contribution you can offer—whether it’s financial support, energy and prayers, or simply holding a vision of my bright and healthy future—will be received with all my love and gratitude.
With love and thanks,
Yvette
