Emergency Relief for Hurricane Melissa Survivors – Westmoreland, Jamaica

My name is Kim Killa Rowe, and although I live in the U.S., my family is originally from Jamaica. I have brothers, aunts, uncles, and a wide circle of relatives and friends who still live there — many in Haddo, Westmoreland, one of the hardest-hit areas after Hurricane Melissa.

This storm left devastation across the island, and in Westmoreland, nearly 90% of residents lost their roofs. Power has not been restored, communication towers are still down, and many smaller rural communities have yet to receive any government assistance.

I am working with family and friends on the ground to deliver emergency aid directly to those overlooked areas — people who can’t wait months for help to arrive. We’re focusing on immediate needs:

Roof tarps to cover exposed homes

Flashlights and batteries to bring light to families living in darkness

Walkie-talkies to help neighbors communicate while phone service is down

Our family here in the U.S. will personally travel to Jamaica this month to hand-deliver these supplies. Each barrel costs about $90 to purchase and around $400 to ship, so even our modest goal of $900 will go a long way toward providing these essential items.

Would love to reach this goal by the 18th of this month to get items purchased packed and shipped.
